This short story is laid out in an easy-to-read format to encourage our precious ones to read ALL on their own.

Let’s dive in!

Why Is It So Good?

Part of the beginner books collection for early readers, kids learn all sorts of wonderful things like:

  • Silly rhymes
  • Short words like ball, wall, pup, cup (to name a few)
  • Simple sentences

Throughout the story, Dr. Seuss talks to you in a short text.

The goofy rhymes and bizarrely adorable characters hook you in an instant.

Due to its simplicity, this book is a great learning tool to enhance kids reading skills ages 2 to 5 years.

The story exposes you to beginner sight words like see, we, in, a, on, no, me (to name a few).

Sight words are common words used ALL the time in books (these words help us learn to read). :-)

What’s It About?

The humorous storyline introduces toddlers to fun words that rhyme like “See Bee”, “Cup Pup”, “Ball Wall”.

As you read along, you are exposed to these words in a sing-song fashion.

The bright colored illustrations make it eye-catching to follow along.

Towards the end of the story, two kids are featured that HOP on their POP (hence, the book name).

But POP isn’t so keen on the idea of the kids hopping on his stomach!

Hop on Pop Storybook Activity

Download the “Tracing Letters” storybook activity below!

Your child gets to practice writing five words in uppercase, “WE HOP HOP ON POP”.

Tracing is a wonderful way to get your kiddo to learn writing.

Plus, it is a GREAT way to encourage fine motor skill development.

Practicing writing is important for a couple of reasons:

  • Helps a child’s development
  • Strengthens the smaller muscle groups in the hands, fingers, and arms
  • Improve kids upper extremity movements with or without motor challenges
